Lassen Volcanic National Park Overnight – Cluster Lakes Loop

Lassen Volcanic National Park is one of California’s lesser known national parks. It is in the Cascade Mountain range and has lots of neat volcanic activity, including volcanoes, steam vents, and bubbling mud pits. The 12-mile loop above has nice views of Mount Lassen and meanders past many lakes. It follows the PCT for only 0.9 miles. The terrain is fairly easy, as the trail follows the lakes. The route does go through a burned area though, which offers little shade on a hot, sunny day. The loop starts and ends at Summit Lake Trailhead. There is also a campground at the trailhead.
