PCT 2018 Stats

We completed the PCT from Mexico to Canada! Here are some stats:

  • It took us 142 days, from May 3 – September 21, 2018.
  • We walked across the Canadian border on our 5th wedding anniversary.
  • We hiked every open mile–no skips, no flips.
  • Including water stops and fire detours, our GPS clocked 2,765 miles hiked and 450,263 feet of total ascent.
  • 3 countries.
  • 3 states.
  • 24 resupply shipments enabled us to eat self-dehydrated vegan meals the entire hike.
  • 14 rattle snakes.
  • 7 black bears.
  • 2 angry skunks.
  • Countless lizards, marmots, pikas, and deer.
  • 4 pairs of shoes each.
  • 0 blisters for Tim, several for Renee.
  • 0 pain killers.
  • 6 zero-mile days.
  • 0 nights in hotels/motels/hostels/etc.
  • Several new friends.
  • One amazing adventure.

Hope we didn’t bore you with the numbers. Couldn’t help it — stats are what we do (we’re an engineer and scientist).
