First day on the trail. We got a ride from San Diego to the start from a ranger who works at Lake Morena Campground for $20 each. We should make it through Lake Morena tomorrow, and he said he’d be looking for us. Celina from Copenhagen shared the ride with us. Once hiking, we spotted a rattle snake and millions of lizards. The weather was great for the start–70’s/80’s and windy. We hiked 15 miles to Hauser Canyon. There are a lot of other hikers camped nearby, but we won’t make it to water until mile 20. We could still see the border fence in the distance at multiple points while hiking today. Vegan taco Mac for dinner. Good.
