PCT Day 109: Mile 2055.0 to 2086.6

August 19th, 2019

We were very efficient today. We had a nice breakfast with two rounds of coffee, took two swimming breaks, and hiked a lot of miles. Our lunch swim was at Timothy Lake, which was huge, had brilliant clear water, and was named after me. Our second swimming break was in Little Crater Lake, a spring-fed pool that was 45 feet deep and 34° F. Renee didn’t want to jump into water that cold, but I did along with our friends Sky Blazer, Bang, and Pilgrim. We accidentally inspired a young child to jump. The water was so cold that he started bawling and he may have drowned so his dad jumped in to save him. I guess thru-hikers set a bad example. After that we pushed on another 8 more miles and ended up hiking our longest day yet. We are camping near a highway tonight, but other than that it was a perfect day.
