PCT Day 120: Mile 2218.7 to 2241.8

August 30th, 2018

This morning was very foggy and misty. It is starting to feel like fall. It has been a bit cooler and the brush is beginning to turn red. Some people hitched into Trout Lake to resupply. We skipped it but found some trail magic at the road! We had beer and bananas and were given airplane shots of fireball for the trail. We had a big climb up to and around Mount Adams, which has some huge glaciers. We had a nice, sunny lunch at a spring with tons of huckleberries and found out two pieces of good news. There is now a detour to get to the Northern Terminus of the PCT at the Canadian border that has been closed for a few weeks due to a fire! We also realized that August has 31 days, so Tim’s birthday is not tomorrow. We were a bit nervous about finding a good campsite tonight because we’re in a big bubble of hikers. We got to our desired campsite with awesome views of Mount Adams and found a bunch of our friends – Mr. Freeze, Apache, Helter, Poke, Spicy, Fairweather, Gilligan, Goldie Locks. And we heard rumors that Hill Billy and Skyblazer are close behind. Maybe the bubble isn’t always a bad thing.
