PCT Day 124: Mile 2297.6 to 2315.6

September 3rd, 2018

This morning we slept in a bit and hung out in camp for awhile with my sister Rachel and her fiance Matt. They drove out from Seattle yesterday and hiked in a few miles with us to a nice lake. It was a lot of fun having them visit us! They gave us the rest of their fuel canister. We forgot to get fuel in Cascade Locks after the wedding. Trout Lake, White Pass, and Packwood were all out of fuel. We are still in the bubble. There were a bunch of weekenders heading back to the trail-head after labor day weekend. Tim asked a couple if they had any extra fuel, and they gave us an almost full small canister! So we are set on fuel until Snoqualmie. This afternoon we had a big climb. We were rewarded with views of Mount Rainier, Saint Helens, and Adams at the top. We also saw some marmots. There were two non-thruhikers having a campfire in the campsite we had in mind for tonight, so we decided to hike on and find a different spot to camp. We are not sure if the campfire ban has been lifted. Good thing we hiked on though because we found an awesome spot with views of Mount Rainier. Tim’s leg was hurting and swollen by the end of the day because he got stung by a bee three times yesterday. We made it to our 6th national park of the trip–Mount Rainier National Park.
