PCT Day 136: Mile 2524.5 to 2544.4

September 15th, 2018

Today we woke up with a patch of blue sky above the river valley we were camping in. There were still clouds hugging the peaks above us though. We hiked up to 6,000 feet first thing and actually had some visibility. We saw Glacier Peak on the way up (a ~9,500 foot tall mountain with a big glacier). We took an early lunch break at the top with an amazing panoramic view of the mountains around us. Scattered rain showers started at the end of our lunch and continued for the rest of the day. We descended back down into the forest, which is full of ferns, moss, and mushrooms. We did not take many breaks due to the wetness and got to camp early at 5pm. We found a dry spot sheltered under some trees. We were able to dry things out a bit. Tomorrow we will be able to put on damp, rather than wet, shoes/socks/pants. Tim sewed a patch on the butt of his pants, which had a big hole. He had to sew the pants twice already in the desert. He must have a really big butt.

So many mushrooms today…
