PCT Day 142: Fire detour plus mile 2641.2 to 2652.6 (THE END!)

September 21st, 2018

We made it to the Canadian border today on our 5th wedding anniversary! We successfully thru hiked the PCT! We hiked every open mile (and some detours too). Luckily, we did not have to do any flips or skips due to injury, smoke, etc. This morning we woke up a bit sad that it was almost over. It was overcast and rainy. We climbed back up to the PCT from the third and final Washington fire detour. When we got up to the top of today’s climb at ~7,000 feet, we stopped for lunch in the fog. The sun came out during our break and the clouds parted long enough for us to get some awesome final views. Eventually we got to the northern terminus and had some champagne, chocolate, and smokes. It started raining again. We are camped in Canada and have an 8 mile hike out of the wilderness tomorrow. It is nice to have another night on the trail. I’m not sure we’re ready for it to be over. It has been a blast! Can’t wait for the next thru hike…
