Hike out of the wilderness

September 22nd, 2018

We finished the PCT yesterday. Today we had an 8 mile hike out of the wilderness and back to civilization. My sister Jenny, her husband Travis, and their kids Penny and Gabby drove to Manning Provincial Park, BC to pick us up. They hiked in a couple of miles to escort us out of the woods. They played instruments for us to celebrate the finish. Manning Park has a hot tub that we enjoyed before hitting the road. We said goodbye to several hiking friends who finished at the same time as us and then hopped in the rental minivan. We had some extra space so we gave a hiker named Copilot a ride to town. We are now back in the USA and are headed to Taco Bell. I’ve been craving Taco Bell for ages. My brother Peter, Renee’s sister Rachel, and Rachel’s fiance Flunker are meeting us tonight to celebrate. It’s surreal to be in society without plans to head back out to the trail any time soon… This will take some adjustment.

Thanks Tennessen Family for picking us up and providing the tunes!
