PCT Day 47: Mile 811.7 to 832.7

June 18th, 2018

We went over Mather Pass today. The approach was gradual but the descent was snowy and difficult. At the top we realized we should do a big day to reduce the mileage for Muir Pass tomorrow, which is supposed to be covered in miles of snow. We saw lots of deer and a grouse. We passed through a beautiful forest in the valley which included sections of gorgeous aspen trees. We walked separately toward the end of the day and had trouble finding each other again, but we did. We’ve hiked with our friend Christian/Sage for the past few days, but we are splitting up tomorrow because he has to do big miles to get to the town of Mammoth to meet a friend, and we are in no rush. Sad, but we’ll find him again eventually.
