PCT Day 5: Mile 64.5 to 81.6

May 7th, 2018

We stayed up too late updating Facebook, Strava, and Instagram, so we had a slow start. Still, we were hiking at 5:30 and knocked off 12 miles by 12 noon, which has become our typical goal. Then, we took a long siesta under a bridge with several other hikers, where we all waited for the heat to go away before doing some more. Today we definitely descended into the real desert; we saw Jack rabbits, snakes, and of course lizards, along with all sorts of new varieties of cacti. Good.
