July 2nd, 2018
Today we woke up and got straight to hiking so we could get to Lake Tahoe as soon as possible. The hike was uneventful and quick, and just as we were arriving at Tahoe we found our friends Kate and Jen, who drove up from Sacramento to meet us. They brought sourdough bread, avocados, beer, fruit, and camaraderie! We hung out at the trail head for a little while sharing beer with other thru-hikers, and then we hopped in the car. They took us to the post office to pick up our resupply package. Then we headed down to Sacramento, where we’ll spend the next two nights taking a nice break. We had showers/baths, ate a TON, and will sleep in a real bed. Our friends Anne and Michelle, from Davis, also came over to Kate and Jen’s house to say hello. Seeing them was amazing, and they brought yummy deserts from a nearby bakery! We’re excited to take a zero-day tomorrow, but we’ll get back on the trail on the 4th before our legs forget how to work. Fun!
