PCT Day 75: Mile 1331.5 to 1350.0

July 16th, 2018

There was a lot of excitement on the trail today. We met a 72 year old thru-hiker named Tinker. He was a lot of fun to talk to, and said he hasn’t met anybody older hiking the trail yet. We spotted two bears a couple of miles apart. That makes four bear sightings in the past three days. We entered Lassen National Park, which has a lot of volcanic activity. We took two short detours from the trail to check out a geyser and a boiling mud pit/lake. We ended the day at Drakesbad Guest Ranch, a resort in the park where we sent resupply packages. While there, we had a great meal and then soaked for three hours in their hot-spring fed pool. We ended the day by stealth camping right next to the pool.
