Today was very pleasant and relaxing. We got up early to beat the heat. We took a .25 mile side trip to check out Burney Falls, which was beautiful. At lunch time, we took a siesta next to a large Creek and under a foot bridge. We swam and ate with 10-20 other hikers that were avoiding the sun. Eventually, we started hiking again and were pleasantly surprised by clouds and a forest that appeared to give us shade–the heat wasn’t bad! We made camp early and had dinner with our hiker friends Flame and Birdman. We both have trail names now too: Sausage and Blue Man. Renee isn’t sure if she’ll stick with Blue Man, but I’ve been Sausage for several hundred miles.
