Trinity Alps Wilderness Long Weekend Out & Back

The PCT travels through the Trinity Alps Wilderness in Northern California. This 28-mile out-and-back is not on the PCT, but it is a great option early season when the PCT is covered in snow. It starts at Stuart Fork Trailhead and follows Stuart Fork Trail, featuring stunning views, a large subalpine meadow, granite peaks, forest, and subalpine lakes. It is possible to hike in, set up camp for two nights, and do a day hike (without packs) to and from Emerald Lake.
